Villegas Park Murals

The murals below are found in Villegas Park (3091 Esperanza St., Riverside) on each side of the handball courts not far from the end of Esperanza St.  The murals are unsigned but, based on Facebook and Twitter posts by the City of Riverside and an article in the June/July issue of the Riversider Magazine, both murals were painted by Jim "Jimbo" Gutierrez (@jimbogutierreztattoos).  The first mural recognizes the history of citrus growing in Casa Blanca area of Riverside. The second mural is entitled, "The Grandessa Azteca" and is based on a tragic ancient Aztec love story. It was originally painted in 1980 and then restored in 2018.
