"Riverside Tales" Mural Details

The Riverside Tales mural located in the alley between Imperial Hardware Lofts and DragonMarsh (3643 University Ave., Riverside) has a lot of interesting details that I didn't include in my earlier post and thought I would highlight here.  The mural "by Pável Acevedo, F.C. Aragon, and Carlos Castro honors the Harada family legacy and numerous multicultural civil rights luminaries. Guest artists included Maurice Howard, Inland Mujeres, Darren Villegas, and others.

Judge Elwood "Woody" Rich Painting at Riverside County Courthouse

Just past the security checkpoint in the entrance to the historic Riverside County Courthouse (4050 Main St, Riverside, CA) is a large painting of former Judge Elwood "Woody" Rich talking to visitors outside of a court room.  According to information in a Press Enterprise article, after he retired Woody Rich would often bring attorneys and litigants together in the court's hallways encouraging the parties to settle. The artist was R.K. Semans and the painting indicates that it was painted in 2003.  More about the painter and his work can be found on the painter's webpage.

A New Mural at Martin Luther King Jr. High School

Another new mural has joined the murals on the outside of Martin Luther King Jr. High School (9301 Wood Rd, Riverside, CA).  The most recent mural is on the front of multi-purpose room and shows a silhouette of MLK with his initials. I believe that it was painted in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the school.  The mural was painted by Murals for Schools led by lead artist Tom Seibert @muralsforschools

Tio's Tacos Folk Art Sculptures

Surrounding Tio's Tacos restaurant (3948 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside) are grounds filled with folk art sculptures made from re-purposed waste cans and bottles.  Martin Sanchez is the restaurant owner and artist who has made the restaurant into an unusual Southern California destination.  Many articles and news stories have been written about Sanchez and his restaurant including articles from the Press Enterprise, PBS SoCal, LAist among others.  Below are some notable sculptures seen from the outside and the parking lot.
