Riverside Transit Agency Transfer Hub Sculptures

The new Riverside Transit Agency transportation hub across from the Metrolink station (4066 Vine St, Riverside, CA) has three attractive intertwined metal sculptures. The station is not currently open but should be accessible in January 2024. The artist is unknown.

"Our Emerging City" Giant Orange

An attractive giant orange entitled Our Emerging City sits next to the parking lot elevators underneath the Citrus Towers office complex (3390 University Ave, Riverside, CA 92501). The orange was painted by Ada M. Passaro as part of the 2006 Giant Orange Artventure sponsored by the Art Alliance of the Riverside Art Museum. It was sponsored by Best, Best & Krieger law firm which has its headquarters in the Citrus Towers.

Path of Life Ministries Animal Shelter Mural

In a small building near the Path of Life Ministries Community Shelter (2840 Hulen Pl, Riverside, CA) is a small building the houses the pets and service animals of those staying at the shelter.  The small building is covered by an older mural showing a park-like scene with trees, grass, dogs and and maybe cats.  The artist is unknown.

Community Altar at the Duran Eastside Library

A striking painted altar featuring Latino, community and symbolic images is found near the entrance of the SPC Jesus S. Duran Eastside Library (4033 Chicago Ave Suite C, Riverside, CA 92507). The top is signed by Cynthia Huerta @lovewithjoyart who, with the sponsorship of the Riverside Art Museum and the James Irvine Foundation, worked with different community groups (indicated along the edge of altar top) to design and paint the community altar. The top illustrates the desirable qualities of Love, Family, trust and Respect. More information about the artist and her work can be found on her website

Pat Morton Painting in Duran Eastside Library

A floral still life painting by artist Pat Morton is currently on display at the SPC Jesus S. Duran Eastside Library (4033 Chicago Ave Suite C, Riverside, CA 92507).  Patricia Morton is a professor of Art History at UC Riverside and she may be the artist.

An unusual abstract painting is currently on exhibit at the SPC Jesus S. Duran Eastside Library (4033 Chicago Ave Suite C, Riverside, CA 92507). The work is signed Adamson and friends and is most likely by Redlands-based artist Gregory Adamson with help by some others.  More about the artist and his paintings can be found on his website

Riverside Mural by Park Ave.

Two murals have recently been painted on the back of the L&M Friction Materials building (2993 14th St, Riverside, CA) seen from an alley between Howard and Park Ave. One shows the city name and the other a raincross, the city symbol.  The artist is unidentified.

Antique Boluva Clock at Riverside Plaza

An antique Bulova clock on a dark green post stands on the west side of the Regal Cinemas Plaza at Riverside Plaza (3535 Riverside Plaza Dr, Riverside, CA).  I have been unable to find information about its origin and reason for its siting.  It reminds me of the Seth-Thomas pedestal clock found downtown on the pedestrian mall.

Tikal Bakery Mural

The glass pane on one side of the Tikal Bakery (3975 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA) has been painted with a mesoamerican-appearing mythological serpent man and woman sitting on each side of a raincross, Riverside's symbol.  The artists are unidentified but the owner of the bakery told me that her grandchildren were painting the mural.

Paulden Evan's Sculpture on Main Street Pedestrian Walkway

A new sculpture consisting of twin towers made of chrome bumpers has recently been installed on the Main Street Pedestrian walkway (3834 Main St, Riverside, CA).  It is by Riverside artist and sculptor Paulden Evans (pauldenevans.com) and was previously located in front of the Riverside Art museum.

Fremont Elementary School Murals

Fremont Elementary School (1925 Orange St, Riverside, CA) has several murals on its front and covering columns entering the campus.  A husky, the school's mascot, is prominently featured. The responsible artists are unidentified.

American Indian Veteran Memorial Statue - Repainted and Relocated

The sculpture entitled The Gift made by sculptor A. Thomas Schomberg has been relocated at the Riverside National Cemetery (22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside) and is waiting for the Memorial to American Indian Veterans to be completed. They continue to raise funds for the memorial. The statue of a dignified native American wrapped in a Continental flag holding a Jefferson Medal - a token of peace and friendship between the US Government and the Indian tribes - has been repainted and relocated to a more prominent area near the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater.  More information about the statue and memorial can be found here and a series of videos about it can be found through the Schomberg studio website.  A previous post with photos of the statue before the repainting can be found here.

Two new bright and cheery butterfly sculptures are now located near the Chestnut Street entrance to the parking lot of Tio's Tacos (3948 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA).  The artist directing the work is Martín Sanchez, the owner of Tio's Tacos.

Sunkist California Dream Fruit Crate Label at Riverside Main Library

A framed Sunkist California Dream fruit crate label is displayed prominently at the Riverside Main Library (3900 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA). A small label below the picture indicates that it was the 2002 Annual Leadership Award given by the Raincross Club to the "Renew the Library Committee" Measure C.
