A bright flame-shaped metallic sculpture is located along the walkway between the Wallace Theater and the Alumni Dining Commons on the California Baptist University campus (8432 Magnolia Ave, Riverside). The sculpture is entitled Inspiration and was created by Frank Heyming, a local Riverside sculptor. It was donated to the University in 2018. In the northeast corner of the main quad at California Baptist University (8432 Magnolia Ave, Riverside) is large bronze Bible opened to 2 Timothy 2:15 which reads “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The bronze Bible was created by Lance Jost, a southern California artist, and was donated by the graduating class of 2009. At the entrance of the Yeager Center at California Baptist University (8432 Magnolia Ave, Riverside), is a fountain with a floating grey marble globe that slowly rotates. It is named the Kugel (German for ball or sphere) and at its base is inscribed a scripture (Matthew 28:19-20) in which Jesus charges his disciples to go to all nations and proclaim the Gospel. As described on the CBU website, it is a tradition for new students to touch the Kugel at the beginning of their studies at CBU. It also symbolizes the student's commitment to "live a life of purpose in accordance with his or her spiritual beliefs." The artist who designed the sculpture is unidentified.
A bright metallic heart-shaped sculpture entitled Let it Shine is found near the top of the La Sierra University campus (4500 Riverwalk Parkway, Riverside). It was sculpted by local sculptor Frank Heyming and dedicated in 2020.
To the right of Yeager Drive leading into the center of the La Sierra University campus (4500 Riverwalk Pkwy, Riverside), a third bronze sculpture has been installed that depicts the story of the Good Shepherd finding his lost sheep. It is one of three sculptures leading to the center of campus which represent parables from the New Testament. The grouping is entitled The Glory of God's Grace. The Lost Sheep was sculpted by Victor Issa and was dedicated in 2022 during the centennial year of the university. To the left of Yeager Drive leading into the center of the La Sierra University campus (4500 Riverwalk Pkwy, Riverside), a bronze sculpture has been installed that depicts the story of "the divine sweeper finding her lost coin". It is one of three sculptures at the entrance of the academic center of campus. The sculptures represent parables from the New Testament and the collection is entitled The Glory of God's Grace. The sculptor of the Lost Coin statue was Victor Issa and the sculpture was dedicated in 2017.
Beyond the fountain where Yeager Drive splits and continues to the center of the La Sierra University campus (4500 Riverwalk Pkwy, Riverside), lies a plaza with a group of sculptures depicting the story of the Return of the Prodigal Son. This grouping, along with two others, leading to the center of campus represent parables from the New Testament. The collection is entitled The Glory of God's Grace. The Prodigal Son grouping was sculpted by the late Alan Collins and was installed in 2002.
The old Casa Blanca school (3060 Madison St, Riverside) has a picture on the front of "our Lady of Guadalupe," a popular saint among local Catholics. The artist is not identified. It has been there for many years as it is seen in photos that date from earlier days when the school was operational. The school was purchased in 1972 by the Catholic Church.
The parking lot (2827 Ninth St., Riverside) for the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church is lined with walls painted with murals combining Mexican, Catholic and Riverside themes. Ronald Del Cid (@Rondeezyyyy) and Jesus Castaneda (@exoskeletal27) were the artists who designed and led a large groups of volunteers in painting the murals. The painting of the mural is shown in a YouTube video.
Tony's Market at 4098 Park Avenue, Riverside exhibits a religious-themed mural on the side of the building. It is not obviously signed, but has "Sister" and "RT" in small letters below the image of Mary as Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is part of the Park Avenue Art District near the Eastside Arthouse (@eastsidearthouse). I might also note that the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church or Shrine is a little further down the street at the corner of Park Ave. and 9th Street.
The La Michoacana Market at 4110 Victoria Ave., Riverside has several notable murals. The first mural appears to have been painted by Ronald Del Cid (@Rondeezyyyy), presumably with the assistance of Jessica C., Christian R., Luis J., Jennifer S. Similar Eastside Heal Zone murals can be seen on several other grocery stores and restaurants in the area. Update: June 2025. In riding down Victoria Ave., I noticed that a raincross has been painted next to the Heal Zone mural. It is shown below.
