Riverside Electrical Box on Magnolia Ave.

The electrical box on Magnolia, just north of the Galleria at Tyler (10098 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA), has been painted with flowers, smiley faces, and the city name.  The artist is unidentified.  

Colorful and Patterned Electrical Box at Tyler and Magnolia

In front of the Sinclair gas station at the corner of Tyler St. and Magnolia Ave. (10290 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA) is an electrical box that has been painted in bright colors with a variety of contrasting patterns.  The artist is unidentified.  

Tomas Rivera Elementary School Murals and Art

Tomas Rivera Elementary School (20440 Red Poppy Ln, Riverside) has a number of murals and art tiles.  The colorful large mural on the west-facing wall shows a coyote, the school mascot, howling in front of the moon.  This mural was painted by the artists at Murals for Schools under the direction of Tom Seibert @muralsforschools.  In the playground on the north side of the school is a mural illustrating imaginative adventures.  It was painted by art students at California Baptist University.  Lastly, there is a tile portrait of Tomas Rivera on the wall by the west entrance to the school.  The artist for the tile art is unknown.  Update: July 2025. Two new photos taken during the golden hour of evening have been added.

Family Sculpture at Citibank on Tyler

A modern art-type of sculpture of a young family is located in front of the Citibank branch on Tyler Ave. (3580 Tyler St, Riverside, CA). The sculptor is unidentified. 

Fruit Crate Label Sign on Van Buren Blvd.

On the east wall in front of the Swiss Clock Shop (3688 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA) and the Mad Tatter's Tattoo Parlor is a large reproduction of a fruit crate label showing two women and a man on the caboose of a train traveling through a citrus orchard.  The artists of the original label and of the reproduction are unknown.   

Stebler Parker Mural Sign

An historic mural and sign advertising the Stebler Parker Co. is located on the side of the Iron Works building at 3850 Vine St., Riverside, CA. Stebler Parker Co. was a prominent establishment that sold fruit packers, machinery and supplies in Riverside almost 100 years ago.  In the 1930s, the Stebler Parker Company became a division of FMC (Food Machinery Corporation) under the name of Citrus Machinery Co. The responsible artist is unidentified. It is in good condition so someone must be maintaining it in recognition of Riverside's citrus history.  

 

Golden Orange Fruit Crate Label Sign

On a wall to the south of Savon Carpet and Tile (9999 Magnolia Ave, Riverside CA) is a large attractive reproduction of an orange crate label.  The original artist and the artist responsible for the reproduction are unknown.  

Gage Canal and Water - Box Art

Two utility boxes at about 3900 Orange St, Riverside, CA have been wrapped with early art reproductions, photographs and text spotlighting the role of the Gage Canal and distribution of water to the growth of the citrus industry in Riverside.  The project was spearheaded by Leadership Riverside 2015 with the concept and design of the project was done by Shannon Murphy of Colibri Communications.    

Goddess Mural on Tyler Ave.

On the side of the Cavalier Liquor Store (4068 Tyler St, Riverside, CA) is one of the Goddess murals created by Raymond Argumedo (@raymond.argumedo on Instagram).  It is similar to his Goddess Sisters painting and Sunshine Goddesses mural, and shows the profile of two women with stars and planets around them.  

Citrus Legacy - Box Art

As part of a project lead by Leadership Riverside 2015, a utility box at about 3580 Orange Street, Riverside CA has been wrapped with early art reproductions of citrus labels to spotlight Riverside's citrus history. The concept and design of the project was done by Shannon Murphy of Colibri Communications.

   

Riverside Early Business Community - Box Art

Behind the Cheech Museum (3581 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA) is a utility box that has been wrapped with a digital print on film spotlighting some of the early businesses that existed at an early period of Riverside's history.  It is part of the Box Art project directed by Leadership Riverside 2015. The artist who executed the work is unidentified but is most likely Shannon Murphy of Colibri Communications who designed the other Art Boxes.  Part of the covering is now missing.  

Art Beat Riverside - Box Art

As part of a project lead by Leadership Riverside 2015, a utility box at the corner of Mission Inn Ave. and Orange St. (3378 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA; near the Riverside Art Museum) has been wrapped with art reproductions from the early 1900s to spotlight Riverside's history and art. The artists who painted most of the featured pieces are listed.  For example, two of the reproduced paintings were painted by Doris Rosenthal, a prominent Riverside-born artist. The concept and design of the project itself was done by Shannon Murphy of Colibri Communications.  

Colorful Electrical Boxes at Entrance to Mariposa Alley

Two electrical boxes at the entrance to Mariposa Alley (3660 Tenth Street, Riverside) have been painted with colorful flowers and butterflies matching the nearby "How to Fly" mural.  It is likely that the artists are Joey Koslik (@koslikdesign) and Patrick Barwinski (@mrbarwinski) who painted the neighboring mural.
