"We Are Still Here" Mural Across from the Riverside County Courthouse

A beautiful new mural has recently been painted on the side of a building across from the Riverside County Courthouse (about 3120 Main St, Riverside, CA).  The mural depicts three native Americans - Rose Ann Hamilton of the Cahuilla Band of Indians, Blossom Maciel, a pregnant woman of the Fort Sill Apache Tribe/Mountain Cahuilla tribe, and Genevieve Aranda, a young girl of the Cahuilla/Serrano and Acjachemen tribe, all against a background reflecting the mountains, hills, streams and vegetation of the area.  The mural, entitled "U’mun Chemqal Eppa which means “We are still here” in the native Cahuilla language, is dedicated to the native tribes of Riverside County.  It was painted by Rosy Cortez @paintedrosy with the assistance of native community volunteers and directed by Rosy Aranda.

  1. These portraits are impressive, obviously women of character. Makes me want to see the displays in person.
