The Vine Street Veterans Park is located next to the new Riverside Transit Agency mobility transportation hub (4125 Vine St, Riverside, CA) and across from the Metrolink station. It has an attractive intertwined metal sculpture that compliments those in the nearby transportation hub. It also has a memorial to those lost in US military conflicts with a special recognition for Gold Star families. The artists who designed the sculpture and the memorial are unknown.
In recognition of March Air Field, silhouettes of airplanes and jets are affixed to the fence on both sides of the Van Buren overpass over the Interstate 215 freeway (Van Buren Blvd. near to the March Air Base). The jets are probably best seen from the freeway and not through the fence as are seen in the close-ups below. The designer and artist who constructed the display are unknown.
Lawn bowling has been practiced at Fairmount Park for nearly one hundred years. At the far end of the bowling green located adjacent to the Riverside Lawn Bowling Club at 4020 Bowling Green Dr, Riverside, CA is an attractive mural recognizing the Riverside's Club and the sport. The artist who painted the mural was Ronald Del Cid (@Rondeezyyyy). Note, this is an update of an earlier post.
An electrical box on Magnolia Ave. across from Riverside Community College (RCC; in front of the house at 4911 Magnolia Ave., Riverside) has been painted with an attractive blue and green design reminiscent of a floral- or leaf-like pattern. The artist is unknown. Update: March 2025. These paintings have recently been replaced.
On the sides of the raised 91 freeway at the Brockton Avenue underpass (near 7177 Brockton Ave., Riverside) are a series of Riverside-themed transportation are showing Riverside's raincross symbol and arches. Selected examples are shown below. Note: these are similar to those seen downtown (see earlier post) with a few variations.
On the west side of the playground in the back of Bryant Elementary School, are a number of containers which sport murals or mural-like paintings. The provide messages of encouragement and advice to the elementary school students. The artist or artists are unknown, although one mural is signed with what appears to be the initials MLZ.

On the wall bordering the sidewalk to the west of Riverside County Office of Education (3939 13th St, Riverside, CA 92501) are a series of murals recognizing the four educational initiatives emphasized by Dr. Edwin Gomez, Riverside County Superintendent of Schools. These focus on mental health, financial literacy, literacy by the 5th grade, and equity and inclusive practices. The murals were designed by Tyson Knight and painted by Riverside County students. A new series of murals have been painted on the walls adjacent to and behind the Smoke & Dreams Shop parking lot at 3648 Central Ave., Riverside. It appears that the murals were painted by multiple unknown artist who signed with initials, monikers or pseudonyms. They are shown in order, beginning with those closest to the street. Update: Oct. 8, 2024; Photos of two more murals have been added.
Today I briefly visited the Mud Hut Pottery Studio (9900 Indiana Ave unit 5, Riverside, CA; @mudhutpotteryriverside) to take a photo of its colorful pottery-themed mural on the wall just inside the studio door. The mural was painted by Juan Navarro @luvmonsterz in May 2023.
The sun screens and stairway screens on the new UC Riverside School of Medicine Education Building 2 (E Campus Dr, Riverside, CA) bear a striking resemblance to DNA and protein sequencing gels. I am not sure if it was intentional or just fortuitous, but I find it noteworthy given the important role of genetics in modern medicine. The screens were made by BŌK Modern. Below are some examples of the solar and stairway screens, DNA and protein sequencing gels, and some citrus-themed artwork in the interior of the building.

A new mural-like painting has been placed within the new Native American Garden at UC Riverside (900 University Ave, Riverside, CA). The garden is in the mall close to the bookstore and Highlander Union Building and was the site of a recent grand opening celebration. The painting was done by River Garza, a Los Angeles-based Native American artist. An article on the Garden can be found in the Inside UCR online news magazine.
